Colin finds that there’s something really satisfying about working with people who make stuff for a living. “We all have a natural tendency to look for ways to continuously improve things,” he says. As a result, Gambit is always an interesting place to be.

Since becoming president and general manager in 1999, Colin has led several company-wide projects, including an enterprise resource planning system (for integrating Gambit’s IT systems) and an ISO system (for quality control). But he’s most proud of the company-wide profit-sharing plan he helped bring about. “With experience working on shop floors and having a growing family, I know first-hand how important personal finances are,” he says.

Colin was born in Saskatoon but grew up in Edmonton and Grande Prairie. An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys golfing, camping, and sailing.

As a founding member of Gambit Machining, Mike has held every possible position in the company. His 30 years of accumulated knowledge helps him mentor others in his role as operations manager. Mike sets both short- and long-term goals for the company, creates and rolls out policies and procedures, ensures health and safety as well as quality, and manages capital expenditures.

It’s a position that speaks to his personality. “I find beauty in things that run well and systematically,” he says. He likes seeing automation and technology in action because machines never skip a beat.

In his spare time, Mike loves spending time with his family travelling, and being outdoors going camping, hiking, and scuba diving. He tries new things daily like building skyward-bound machines—rockets.

Bio

As production manager, Mike handles everything from scheduling machines and employees, to managing inventory and customers. It’s a lot to juggle, but with more than three decades at Gambit, Mike rises to the challenge. He’s most proud of the cost-savings programs he created to secure work from large clients.

An avid outdoorsman, Mike coaches hockey, golfs with friends and family, goes dirt biking, and travels.

Tracy has always been a problem solver. There’s something invigorating about finding “a better way.” As Gambit’s accounting manager, she has no shortage of problems to solve. In addition to accounting, Tracy manages payroll, human resources, benefits, and training.

Tracy joined Gambit in 2002, after earning a diploma in business administration from NAIT. Tracy went on to earn her bachelor of applied business administration-Accounting from NAIT, as well as her ISO internal auditor certification.

In her spare time, Tracy can often be found volunteering for her children’s sports teams, playing golf, or travelling.

For 30 years, Wayne has kept Gambit’s shop running like a well-oiled machine. On top of overseeing machinists and maintaining equipment, he finds creative solutions to client problems. He takes great pride in giving his customers high-quality parts.

A lifelong Edmontonian, Wayne studied at NAIT to become a journeyman machinist. In his free time, he loves golfing, camping, and travelling.
